What is a MCA tonnage measurement?
The MCA tonnage measurement is an important process that determines the size of your yacht for official purposes and serves as the basis for the registration or issue of the flag certificate.
Specifically, it is a standardized method for assessing the volume of a yacht to ensure fair and consistent application of regulations in different jurisdictions – such as determining manning requirements, calculating mooring and port fees, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Depending on the season and workload, we endeavor to carry out the measurements within 14 days of the order being placed. The original measurement report is then sent by post. However, how long it takes to issue the certificate ultimately depends on the processing time of the responsible authority.
To issue a tonnage certificate, we require proof of ownership (purchase contract or invoice) and a copy of the last registration (or – if available – a copy of the last certificate).
The costs for tonnage measurement in Croatia or Italy depend on the size and type of yacht to be measured and the location. Please use our online form to request your personalized quote.
